Company

Covalent is the only software supplier that was formed specifically to develop and market Performance Management software for Public Sector and Healthcare.

Covalent is now the UK market leader and a growing position in international markets with customers in America and Australia.

Our goal is to make Covalent the leading Performance Management software solution for Public Sector and Healthcare, by offering the best functionality at the best price.

This is our only market, so product development is totally dictated by public sector needs. Our staff are highly knowledgeable and understand the particular issues facing public sector organizations - many have themselves previously worked for a public sector body.

Why the name Covalent?

Covalent bonding is a form of chemical bonding based on atoms binding tightly together by sharing electrons with each other. The Covalent software product is so-named to reinforce the concept of bonding; in this case tightly aligning the work people actually do with what the customer organization is trying to achieve.

Covalent does this by linking objectives with the performance measures in use, from corporate through departmental to individuals so that work done and resources used are aligned to strategic priorities and aims.

"We use the risk module here at Lichfield to record and manage all our service and corporate risk registers. We find the system very simple to use and are very happy with it. The key benefit that we find from using Covalent rather than a standalone system is the ease with which risks can be linked to the PIs and Actions that they refer to. For instance our Corporate Risk Register is arrived at by assessing the risks to each of the Actions in our Strategic Action Plan, which is also held on Covalent. Reports showing the actions and the risks that could affect them (or vice versa) are easy to produce. We have devolved the maintenance of the risk registers to 'risk champions' in each department, and they have found the system easy to use with very little training."
